Hi there, my name is Shannon Lyn Brantley and I am excited to introduce myself as a highly experienced professional in the field of higher education.  With over 10 years of experience working in a variety of roles such as adjunct professor, school counselor, director of student development, academic advisor, and mindfulness educator, I have dedicated my career to supporting students in achieving their academic and personal goals. 


Throughout my years of experience in higher education, I have gained a deep understanding of the challenges that students face during their college years, and I am committed to helping them navigate these challenges and find success both inside and outside of the classroom. I specialize in using mindfulness and coaching techniques to help students develop self-awareness, resilience, and a growth mindset, and I am passionate about empowering them to achieve their full potential.


My background in higher education and life coaching has given me a unique perspective on the needs of college students, and I am eager to use my skills and expertise to help students enhance their college experience and achieve their goals. Whether you are a student who needs help with time management and study skills, career planning and exploration, or managing stress and anxiety, I am here to support you and help you achieve success.

Shannon has been helping students achieve academically and socially in college for over ten years. As a College Life Coach, she works with recent high school graduates and college freshmen on developing the skills they need to thrive as college students. She empowers students by teaching them to implement habits that will reduce their daily stress and maximize their productivity. She works with students on topics such as organization, time management, communication, utilizing campus resources, self-care and self-advocacy. 


Students that work with Shannon are more likely to achieve their academic goals, make smart decisions and feel confident in their ability to manage the independence that comes with the transition to college. Throughout her broad and varied career in higher education, Shannon has worked as a school counselor, professor, academic advisor, student development & campus life director, professional life coach, and mindfulness educator/facilitator. 

  

These roles have solidified Shannon’s expertise in time management, organization, communication, and healthy habits. As a College Life Coach, Shannon serves as a teacher, motivator, accountability partner and counselor for the students she works with as she guides them through their journey to college success.

  • Shannon’s greatest strength is her genuine concern for the wellbeing of her students. She encourages each one to explore new courses and activities, get involved in areas of interest, stretch their boundaries, and expand their comfort zones. She encourages and guides students to take ownership of their college journey.

  • She believes that students should take the initiative in planning their futures. Students working with Shannon will think about themselves in new ways. Her encouragement is always supportive and understanding, but she also has an awareness of growth experiences that will help students develop as young adults.

  • Shannon received her B.S. in Psychology from SUNY Oneonta and her M.A. in School Counseling from Manhattan College.  Shannon is a Certified School Counselor, International Coaching Federation - Certified Coach and a Certified Martha Beck Wayfinder Life Coach.

  • Shannon has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for over 10 years.  She studied with Mindful Schools and is a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator. She is also a student of TM - transcendental meditation. 

  • She is also a mother of three children: a college graduate, a current college student, and a high school student.
